Where are we?

Laurel Court is located in Didsbury, less than five miles from the centre of Manchester. We are set back off Palantine Road, close to local amenities including shops, a Post Office and a church.

Activities, trips and events

Our two Activity Coordinators keep our residents active and entertained with a fun-packed weekly activities calendar. These optional activities include: singing and musicians coming into the home, quizzes, bingo, animal visits, exercise classes, art sessions, baking, flower arranging and church services.

At Laurel Court, we regularly take residents on trips. This can be anything from lunch at the local Beehive cafe to a trip to a weekly dance. Our residents tell us what they want to do, and we do our best to make it happen.

Award-winning music therapy

We are committed to providing alternative therapies such as music therapy to help alleviate isolation and the symptoms for those living with dementia. Our trained and award-winning therapist is funded by charitable donations and interacts directly with residents through live music therapy sessions. This includes singing, playing simple percussion instruments or responding to musical cues in a one-to-one or group setting. Take a look at our video to find out more about this life-changing therapy.

Chaplaincy and pastoral support

We are proud to offer discrete and personal support from our in-house chaplain. They provide a listening ear and companionship to those we care for, their families and our colleagues, regardless of faith, background or belief.

"A lovely chaplain who goes out of her way to talk to all residents." Relative review, carehome.co.uk

I have been really pleased with the care that my mum has received. The floor staff are friendly and helpful and the management team are really pleasant and keep me informed about any ongoing issues. While there are plenty of activities available, the problem is that due to my mum’s severe dementia, she cannot really respond.

Dad moved to Laurel Court Care Home in October 2022 featuring a poor experience in his previous care home. I cannot speak highly enough of the care Dad receives. Carers are kind, compassionate, and cheerful and even when Dad is very challenging due to his dementia, have remained calm and professional. Senior staff and management communicate well, we always feel well-informed about Dad and about the management of the home. Lastly, we recently made a difficult decision to move Mum into care and she settled straight in yesterday. I have no hesitation in recommending Laurel Court Care Home.

I was very impressed with the care and support that my wife got, but surprised at the amount of money spent on entertainers. So I bought the home a set of microphones, video and screens for the same amount of money as the home spent on one entertainer.

The food served is generally good, however quite often the food is barely warm, at times unappetising, although nutritious, on occasions the wrong foods are served together. The vegetables are often undercooked and the fish can be very dry. The desserts/puddings sometimes are very heavy after the late afternoon/early evening meals, and a lot of the residents leave a lot of their meals, resulting in a lot of wastage of food.

Sadly, Dad passed away in January 2023 following a short illness. He spent 8 months at Laurel Court and we only wish we had found this place sooner, as he had a really bad experience at a care home in belonging to one of the larger providers, but the positive is he spent the last 8 months of his life being well cared for and happy.
Laurel Court is a wonderful caring environment, where the staff work tirelessly to make the residents comfortable and cared for. The management of the home is exemplary, where nothing is too much trouble, with any concerns dealt with immediately.
Residents are treated as human beings, and the care for each is tailored to their specific needs. The staff liaise with relatives and welcome them into the home (Covid permitting), and even let them join in the activities put on for the residents.
We cannot thank Laurel Court enough for the care and time they gave to Dad. We really miss visiting the manager and her team.
