Zetland Court

Caring has been our way of life since 1842 and we provide a home for over 1,000 people across England and Wales – while supporting many more.
Whether people need residential care or nursing care, residential dementia support or limited sheltered accommodation, we care for them professionally and kindly. Our values and vision

At RMBI Care Co. we aim to deliver professional and individual care services, which make a real difference to everyday lives.
We are Kind.
We are kind to our residents, their families and each other because we are passionate about how we deliver care. We believe that everyone should be treated with dignity and their wishes respected at all times.

We are Supportive.
We are here to help and be supportive in our approach to care, placing residents at the heart of all we do. We treat each person as an individual, recognising the things that are important to them and working as a team to achieve this.

We are Trusted.
We are open, honest and trusted in delivering care to Freemasons, their dependants and the wider communities. We have been supporting older people for over 180 years, and we work closely with our residents, their families and each other to offer a safe environment.

Our history

The Grand Lodge started the Royal Masonic Benevolent Annuity Fund for men in 1842 and for females in 1849.

In 1850, the first Home was opened in East Croydon and the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution (RMBI) was established.

The Home remained in Croydon for over 100 years until 1955 when it was transferred to Harewood Court in Hove after identifying the need for bigger premises.

Today, RMBI Care Co. has 17 care homes in England and Wales and supports older Freemasons, their families and people in the wider community with residential care, nursing and dementia support.

My mother became a resident in Zetland Court in about August 2020, and absolutely loved her time there. She had company, there were things to do if she chose and as she was mentally active she appreciated everything that was going on. She received excellent care and she was always saying how lovely all the staff were, so thank you all very much for looking after her.

My mother was a resident of Zetland Court for over six years until her recent death. Her care was exemplary. The staff were always kind and helpful, the food very good. They catered to her specific food requirements including her favourite treats. She was always treated with respect, dignity and thoughtfulness. She suffered from Parkinson’s and her condition worsened over time, but the quality of her care never wavered.

I have visited my wife every day in the last thirteen months with very few exceptions to the daily visit (I had Covid for 12 days). During this time I have only seen care, kindness and empathy being given to the residents. The atmosphere is relaxed, happy, non-regimented and relaxed. The residents are continually told this is their home which gives them a sense of belonging along with being treated at all times with dignity and care.

My mum sadly passed away in May 2023 at 101 years old, completely unexpected despite 101 wonderful years of age. Mum had been in several care homes since Covid lockdown in 2020 where the care was ok but not what you want to provide for your loved one.
I moved my mum there in early February 2023 where she really managed to live again and enjoy life near the sea. The management and staff are absolutely amazing, caring and thoughtful people and will do anything to help the person being cared for or the relatives. Communication was excellent, so as the relative you always were aware of any concerns.
There is a real feeling of community in the home, especially on Sunday afternoons where you find people playing Scrabble or just sitting around drinking tea and eating cake in the lounges and chatting.
I cannot recommend this care home enough and please do not regret, as I do, not moving the special person in your life to Zetland Court Care Home earlier.

Very impressed with the friendliness of the staff from start to finish. Tea was superb and was enjoyed by all. The resident is obviously very happy and spoke in glowing terms about how nice the staff were. They did their best to make it a good day for all. Very impressed with the cleanliness of the building and grounds.
